Drill of the Week – Pendulum
The past couple of weeks we worked on wide transitions and calling shots. This week we will bring it together by practicing the Steel Challenge stage, Pendulum. If you don’t have steel targets cut out or draw three 12″ circles and two 10″ circles from cardboard and paint it white. Use white pasters or tape to cover the shots.
Pendulum will help refine drawing to a tight shot or far target, quick accurate transitions and calling shots. Remember to keep a hard focus on your front sight and call your shots. Shooting paper targets will help improving shot calling since you won’t have the report of steel. Follow through is also very important. If you break off a target too soon it will be a miss. Continue working on shifting your eyes to the next target and follow with the gun. This helps prevent swinging past the target. Try shooting the arrays using different patterns ie. 1, 2, 5, 4, stop; 5, 4, 1, 2, stop; 1, 2, 4, 5, stop etc. What gives you the best time?
